Kids handling delicate video cameras are given pro tips from young actor.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- August 14, 2002 -- At the skate park, in the mall or in school, kids are using video cameras to record events all around them. Few of these young filmmakers have ever been given any instruction to the care and operation of this delicate, electronic tool. Furthermore, kids imitate video styles they see in movies and on TV but have little knowledge on why these techniques work. The Young Filmmakers Club: Video Camera Techniques, a new educational video hosted by young actor Logan O'Brien (http://www.loganobrien.com ), shares practical knowledge and tips in the care and operation of the video camera. The color 25-minute video addresses aspects to consider when selecting a camera and accessories, how to operate the camera and how to use the camera as part of the storytelling process.

As digital video cameras have become more attractively priced, computer editing software more readily available and the exposure kids have to this medium from television and films, there is little stopping the young filmmaker. Kids readily take to using the visual storytelling format with camera techniques at the forefront of media creation. In addition, many film festivals have added young filmmakers to their categories under competition or screening engagements.

Video Camera Techniques is targeted at helping kids expand their technical expertise in an easy to follow format. With kids ages 8-14 the target market, this video provides instructional guidance in the use and operation of the video camera. Many adults have found the video useful too.
